Hi! I'm Suzanne, and I'm probably the one you'll talk to when you reach out. I started our little family business at Carawood Lake after attempting to book a venue for my own (20 year!) vow renewal. After experiencing some serious frustrations with the current wedding industry as a “bride”, I decided to “be the change” I wanted to see and start my own venue!
You can usually find me talking with people, planning our next event, or listening to a good romantasy book while I tend the grounds.
Nick is my partner in all of this (and in life). He's the guy who can build anything, fix anything, and somehow always knows exactly what needs to happen to make things work. His mission is making this land even more beautiful than when we found it.
And, because we’re a small family business, when you book with us, you can be confident that you’ll be working with us, and not someone else who you don’t vibe with. This isn’t just a job for us; we’re pouring our love, sweat, and tears into this land and hopefully, you’ll love it as much as we do someday!
What we believe
We believe your wedding should feel like the best weekend ever, with really good food and the time and space to soak up every last memory.
We believe all kinds of love deserve to be celebrated, and all spiritual paths are welcome.
We believe that real relationships are important. Connection to other humans brings deeper meaning to our lives. We genuinely enjoy talking to people, hearing about your dreams, and being excited not just for you, but with you!
And we believe that planning your event should be fun, not stressful. There’s good energy here, and we believe that joy can be contagious in the best way.
Our philosophy about money: No one should go into debt because of a single event. A beautiful celebration can be had on any budget, so long as you have the right mindset. At Carawood Lake, we won’t ever try to push you to spend above your budget, and will help you have the best day you can, regardless of what day or package you chose.
One of my favorite quotes is, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Social media can make it seem like we need all the things, all the time in order to have the wedding of our dreams. But we know from plenty of experience hosting events that if you focus on feelings rather than stuff, your wedding can be absolutely overflowing with love and joy and be every bit of a perfect day!
What we offer
We can tell you all about our amenities and capacity and whatever else you want to know, but what we really care about is giving you a place where your celebration can be exactly what YOU want it to be. For example…
Want a beautiful, traditional sunset ceremony by the lake, signature cocktails on the patio, and a super fun reception at a rustic venue (that still has AC!)? We’ve got you covered!
Want to dance around the fire with your favorite people pounding on the drums? We love the idea.
Want to cosplay your favorite fantasy, have a handfasting deep in the woods, or include a unique ritual that might make some clutch their pearls? As long as it’s legal, we're 100% here for it.
Want your guests to stay with you on the property so nobody has to drive home and the party goes on all weekend? That's literally why we set this up.
Need privacy to truly feel free to be yourself? The entire 30-acre campground is hidden behind 20 acres of farmland and trees. Nobody from the outside is seeing anything.
